Things to do in Amalfi Coast

4.5/5 (595)

The Amalfi Coast is the gem of Southern Italy, known all over the world for the richness of its nature and its beautiful landscapes: overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, it extends along 37 km of coastline and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997.

Characterized by a succession of picture-perfect cliffs, bays, towns and villages - such as Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, Atrania and Vietri sul Mare - the Amalfi Coast is known for its beautiful architecture, the mild climate, and the marvelous landscapes which have inspired so many artists and travelers throughout the centuries.

The Amalfi Coast is also known for its local products. In addition to the delicious seafood, don't miss the opportunity to try the anchovies and canned fish products of Cetara, the traditional cheese from the Lattari Mountains, the olive oil from the hills of Salerno, and Limoncello - a liqueur obtained from locally grown lemons. Moreover, you'll have a chance to admire Vietri's famous intricately painted ceramics.

There's plenty of things to do in this region: take a dip in the cobalt blue waters, walk along the spectacular Sentiero degli Dei trekking path, or visit the sumptuous Duomo di Amalfi, which dates back to the 9th century.

“40 minutes in Ravello and 10 of those spent waiting for guide to buy tickets for Villa Ruffalo”

“We were disappointed with this trip. Positano was very beautiful as always but the traffic on the coastal road is horrendous. It is an awful lot of driving to basically just see Ravello. It would have been better for us if we visited just Positano and Amalfi. Less driving and more time to spend in each village/town. On the way back from Ravello the road to the strada / main road back was closed due to a storm the previous night so we were diverted all over the place which added a couple of hours”

“We were at the pick up point 15 minutes early at 8am but the bus was 40 minutes late which meant we were on our feet for almost an hour as there is no seating at the pick up point We were given 3 hours free time as the ferry was not until 2pm Which was to long. The ferry was just a crossing to Salerno no time there just on the bus for the drive back. I know that the weather was not great but took almost 4 hours to get back, did not see the point of the ferry if it was just to meet the coach”

“amalfi coast views and bus travel were excellent time in amalfi town very overcrowded and unnecessary a return to sorrento by boat or bus would have been preferrable the ferry trip from amalfi to salerno was a completely wasted hour to a seaport and then board the bus home with no time in salerno”
