Things to do in HafenCity
The HafenCity district in Hamburg is a result of urban regeneration after being revitalised by new hotels, shops, attractions, office buildings and residential areas. It's located in the area of the former port and was formally established in 2008. The district includes the Speicherstadt area, the HafenCity University, dedicated to architecture and urban planning studies, and the world renowned Elbphilharmonie concert hall, one of the city's most important attractions.
Take a tour of HafenCity and discover the main highlights this district has to offer. Admire the futuristic architecture of international conglomerates as they starkly contrast the red brick warehouses of the Speicherstadt area. Wander along the waterways and enjoy the picturesque views from the numerous bridges that cross the canals.
Visit the magnificent Elbphilharmonie and discover more about the history of the site and its location. Admire the spectacular architecture before moving inside to learn about the ground-breaking concert halls.
