Things to do in Rembrandt House Museum

4.7/5 (101)

The Rembrandt House Museum, or Rembrandthuis in Dutch, is the former house of the important Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt. The restored 17th-century house, now converted into an art museum, tells the story of Rembrandt as a person, artist, teacher, collector, businessman, and citizen of Amsterdam. The museum contains an assortment of the etchings and paintings Rembrandt created during his lifetime.

Located on the edge of Amsterdam’s former Jewish Quarter just behind the Red Light District, the Rembrandt House Museum is a top attraction in the city. The interior of the building was accurately reconstructed to look as it did when Rembrandt lived there. During your visit, you’ll be able to get a deeper sense of how this famous Dutch artist lived and worked in the house from 1639 to 1659.

“This museum is a gem, very small and intimate but still a famous site to visit in Amsterdam so it was extremely crowded. An immersive experience into the life and work of the artist! I loved it and is right in the center”

“Buongiorno, in riferimento alla parte museale tutto OK, mentre per la parte che riguarda i mezzi pubblici , ovvero AUTOBUS, stiamo pagando il biglietto in quanto gli autisti ci rispondono che la card che abbiamo non e' valida.”
